Julie Nelson is a legal professional with extensive experience in employment and immigration law. Currently serving as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Oportun since March 2017, Julie was the first employment counsel for the organization. Prior roles include Senior Counsel at Paragon Legal, where support was provided to the Legal and HR teams at Symantec Corporation and Oportun, and Senior Attorney at FLEX by Fenwick, offering in-house legal support at Zynga. Julie's earlier experience also includes Senior Counsel at Paragon Legal for Autodesk, and Assistant General Counsel at New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI), overseeing all labor and employment matters. Educational credentials include a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of California, Davis, and a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law.
