Shyamal Nath has over 20 years of experience in scientific software development and molecular modeling. Shyamal currently works at OpenEye Scientific as the Scientific Software Director, a role they have held since September 2022. Prior to this, they were the Head of Molecular Modeling at OpenEye Scientific from January 2018 to September 2022. From July 2016 to December 2017, they worked as a Physics Toolkits developer at OpenEye Scientific.

Before joining OpenEye Scientific, Shyamal Nath was the Chief Development Scientist at Culgi from March 2005 to May 2016. At Culgi, they managed a global software development team and was the lead architect and developer of the multi-scale computational chemistry software. Shyamal also designed and developed the core classes of the modeling library and the graphical user interface.

Earlier in their career, Shyamal Nath worked as a Consultant at Sandia National Laboratories from May 2004 to November 2005, where they provided expertise in their field. Shyamal was also a Consultant at AnalyzeSoft Incorporated from March 2004 to November 2004, where they designed and developed web interfaces for managing administrative databases and loan activities.

Shyamal Nath began their career as a Scientific Software Developer at Accelrys Incorporated in August 1999. Shyamal played a crucial role in bug fixes and commercialization of the FAST software and developed various tools and algorithms for polymer Monte Carlo simulations.

Shyamal Nath holds a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. Currently, Shyamal is pursuing a post-doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
