Sarah Shoker, Ph.D. has held various roles in academia, public policy, and project management since 2013. Sarah is currently a Research Scientist at OpenAI, where they started in September 2021. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Waterloo, conducting research in public policy, international relations, and cybersecurity from August 2019 to September 2021. In addition, Sarah was the Founder and CEO of Glassbox Inc. from February 2019 to September 2021, and taught as a Sessional Lecturer in Political Science at McMaster University from August 2017 to September 2021. Sarah has also worked as a Project Manager at All Nations International Development Agency, a Research Fellow in Childhood and International Policy at McMaster University, and a Visiting Lecturer at Chernivtsi National University. Early in their career, Sarah held shorter-term positions as a marketing outreach coordinator, a member mobilizer, and a research assistant.
Sarah Shoker, Ph.D. received a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Saskatchewan. Sarah then went on to obtain a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Political Science from the same university. Later, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Political Science from McMaster University. During their time at McMaster University, they earned a 2016 Teaching and Learning Certificate and Instructional Skills Workshop.
