Chad Cravens has held a variety of positions in the software engineering and cyber security field since 2005. From 2005-2006, they worked as a Computer Scientist Intern at the US Army Research Laboratory, where they researched and developed exploits against the IPv6 protocol in C. In 2006, they held a similar position at the Defense Cyber Crime Center, where they developed applications to identify, extract, and decrypt information hidden in pictures and videos using steganographic tools and techniques. From 2007-2011, they worked as a Computer Scientist at SPAWAR, where they developed enterprise systems using J2EE, EJB 3.0, JPA/Hibernate, ExtJS, JQuery, XHTML, Oracle EM, Oracle database, and Glassfish. In 2011, they held Software Engineer positions at both Quantitative Brokers and Scientific Research Corporation. From 2012-2013, they were a Senior Software Engineer at SPARC, LLC, where they analyzed the security posture of a high-level government system. In 2014, they held two positions: Senior Engineering Consultant at Shadow-Soft and Founder & CTO at Open Source Systems, LLC. At Open Source Systems, they are dedicated to delivering excellence in engineering capabilities to customers in software, cyber, mobile, and cloud.
Chad Cravens received a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology between 2003 and 2007. Chad also obtained two Coursera Course Certificates in 2016, one for Machine Learning Foundations: A Case Study Approach in July, and the other for The Data Scientist's Toolbox in June.
