Derek Newman, AIA, NCARB, serves as the Director of Architecture at Onyx+East since March 2022. Previously, Derek held the position of Design Manager at Flaherty & Collins Properties from July 2017 to March 2022, overseeing luxury market rate multi-family projects and acting as the primary liaison for project consultants, architects, and engineers. Notable projects under Derek’s management include The Arbuckle, The Mill at Ironworks Plaza, Riverhaus, Stonewater at The Riverwalk, The Banks, and Whiskey River. Derek began the architectural career as a Graduate Architect at RQAW Corporation and CSO Architects, contributing to various projects across different sectors. Earlier experience includes internships at Schmidt Associates and Domain Architecture, Inc. Derek holds a Master of Architecture degree from Ball State University and a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Indiana University Indianapolis.
