Youcheng Wang

Senior Applications Scientist at Onto Innovation

Youcheng Wang has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of applications science, condensed matter science, and research. They worked as an Applications Scientist at Onto Innovation, where they analyzed optical metrology data and used modeling and machine learning to obtain critical information for semiconductor manufacturing. Their daily work involved problem-solving for customers, collecting feedback, communicating with management, providing training, developing solutions, and writing scientific documents. Prior to this, they served as a Jack E Crow postdoctoral fellow at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, working on projects related to microwave cavity resonators and optical measurements in high magnetic fields. They also worked as a Research Assistant at Johns Hopkins University, studying superconductor-insulator transition and correlated electron systems using spectroscopy, and as a Teaching Assistant, helping to teach general physics courses and labs. Additionally, they gained research experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Science and Technology of China, focusing on nanocrystal synthesis and catalyst performance.

Youcheng Wang earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Condensed Matter Physics from The Johns Hopkins University, completing the program from 2014 to 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Physics-Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China, graduating between 2010 and 2014.

In addition to their formal education, Youcheng Wang has pursued various certifications. These include "SQL Essential Training" from LinkedIn, completed in May 2023; "Data Science Foundations: Fundamentals" from LinkedIn, obtained in March 2023; "Using Python with Excel" from LinkedIn, attained in October 2022; "AWS Machine Learning Foundations 2022" from Udacity, accomplished in September 2022; "Python Data Structures and Algorithms" from LinkedIn, acquired in August 2022; and "Python Essential Training (2018)" from LinkedIn, completed in July 2022.
