Daniel Ackermann is a seasoned curator and scholar currently serving as Chief Curator and Director of Collections, Research and Archaeology at Old Salem Museums & Gardens since May 2020, following a role as Interim Chief Curator and Director of Collections. Ackermann has been with Old Salem Museums & Gardens since September 2007, where also held the position of Curator of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts. Prior experience includes a curatorial internship at The Metropolitan Museum of Art focused on American Decorative Arts and a career as a Professional Numismatist and Auctioneer at Heritage Auctions. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy in Art History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master’s degree in Architectural History and Preservation from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor’s degree in History with a focus on Public History and Material Culture from William & Mary.
