Emmanuel Sangodele has a diverse range of work experience in the agricultural field. Emmanuel started their career as a Senior Seed Technician at the International Crops Research for Semi-arid Tropics (ICRISAT), where they focused on developing sustainable seed systems in West Africa. Emmanuel then worked as a Research Scientist at Barwale Foundation, where they specialized in developing DNA markers for selecting drought-tolerant and blast-resistant rice backcross inbred lines.
Emmanuel later joined the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad as a Rice Breeder, where they worked on integrating major genes for durable blast resistance and drought tolerance into popular rice varieties in India. Emmanuel also served as a Breeder and Coordinator (Rice hybrid technology transfer) at the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, promoting rice hybrid technology in Nigeria, Senegal, and Mali.
Emmanuel's work experience also includes roles at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) as a Country Coordinator for the N2Africa project, leading the implementation of project activities and facilitating partnerships with dissemination and market partners. Emmanuel also worked as the Chief of Party at INSPIRE AGRIC GENETICS LTD, overseeing the operations of the organization.
Currently, Emmanuel is working as the Chief Agronomist/Seed system specialist at Olam, utilizing their expertise to contribute to the company's agricultural initiatives.
Emmanuel Sangodele holds a PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, which they earned from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed an M.Sc in Botany (Plant Physiology) from Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria, from 2002 to 2004. Emmanuel obtained a B.Agric Tech. in Crop Production from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, from 1988 to 1994. Emmanuel Sangodele also completed their West Africa School Certificate in Sciences from Igbonnibi High School, Ila- Orangun, Osun State, from 1978 to 1983, and their Primary School Leaving Certificate in Arts and Sciences from St. Peter's Anglican Primary School, Inisa, Osun State, from 1972 to 1977. In addition, Emmanuel Sangodele obtained a certification from SDG Academy at edX in 2019.
