Miguel Albornoz is an experienced Tunnel Engineer currently working at OHLA USA, focusing on the excavation of the Bethesda South Station to connect the Red Line with the Purple Line for the Washington D.C. and Maryland Metro. Prior to this role, Miguel served as a Tunnel Project Engineer at Protecnium, managing underground civil works for the Maryland Transit Solution (Purple Line). From November 2015 to October 2021, Miguel worked with STRABAG in various capacities, including the Drill & Blast Department and the Geotechnical Department, overseeing complex tunneling projects and ensuring technical accuracy in support installations. Additional experience includes technical inspections for tunnels in Santiago and geotechnical roles at Teixeira Duarte and Ingenieros De Santis. Miguel holds a degree in Geology from Universidad Central de Venezuela and further qualifications in tunneling from Universidad del Desarrollo.
