Tonjia Coverdale is currently an advisor at OhioX. Tonjia previously served as vice president for information technology and chief information officer at Central State University from July 2017 to April 2020. Prior to that, they were president / chief executive officer of Virgin Islands Next Generation Network (viNGN) from April 2015 to March 2016, where they were responsible for the organization's fiscal, operational, and human functions.
Coverdale has extensive experience in the development and implementation of broadband infrastructure, as well as in the management of information technology and human resources. Tonjia has a proven track record in developing innovative solutions to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Tonjia is a strong advocate for the use of technology in education and has been instrumental in the development of a STEAM academy in conjunction with the University of the Virgin Islands and the Department of Education.
Coverdale is a highly effective leader with a commitment to the continued development of the Virgin Islands. Tonjia has a deep understanding of the needs of the community and has implemented programs and policies that have had a positive impact on the lives of Virgin Islanders.
Tonjia Coverdale has a Ph.D. in Information Science and Systems from Morgan State University, an MBA in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University - J. Mack Robinson College of Business, and a BS in Information Science and Systems from Morgan State University. Tonjia also has certification from LinkedIn in DELIVER: Inspire teams to excel, Yoga Alliance in Registered Yoga Teacher - RYT 200, LinkedIn in Digital Transformation, and Tony Schwartz on Managing Your Energy for Sustainable High Performance.
