Andrew Singer has a diverse work experience. Andrew started their career as a Research Scientist at Sanders, A Lockheed Martin Company in 1996, where they worked until 1998. In 1998, they joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Fox Family Professor of Engineering. In this role, they taught various courses in electrical and computer engineering, as well as technology entrepreneurship, product design, and innovation. Andrew also served as the Head of the Innovation Leadership and Engineering Entrepreneurship degree program. In 2000, they co-founded Intersymbol Communications, a company that makes integrated circuits for electronic dispersion compensation of optical links. Andrew served as the CEO of Intersymbol Communications until 2006. From 2000 to 2009, they also worked as a Senior Scientist at Finisar Corporation (Intersymbol Communications, Inc). In 2014, they became the Chief Executive Officer of OceanComm, a position they currently hold. Since May 2018, they have also been working as the Associate Dean for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Andrew Singer has an extensive education history in the field of electrical engineering and computer science. Andrew first attended Hoffman Estates High School from 1981 to 1985. Afterward, they enrolled in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and obtained a bachelor's degree (SB) in electrical engineering and computer science from 1985 to 1990. Andrew continued their studies at MIT, completing a master's degree (SM) in the same field from 1990 to 1992. Lastly, Andrew Singer pursued a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science at MIT, which they successfully completed from 1992 to 1996.
