Benedikt Bünz is an Assistant Professor at New York University's Courant Institute in the Department of Computer Science, specializing in applied cryptography, blockchain, and security since September 2023. Bünz co-founded Espresso Systems in 2020 and worked as a PhD student at Stanford University from September 2016 to July 2023, focusing on research in security and blockchains. Prior to this, Bünz gained experience as a research intern at Visa in 2017, where the focus was on enhancing privacy for blockchain transactions and smart contracts, and as a simulation engineer at BandwidthX from September 2013 to September 2014. Bünz's educational background includes a PhD and MSc from Stanford University, as well as a BSc from the University of Zurich.
