Karen Michele Steele, PharmD, DPLA has a long and varied work experience in the healthcare industry. Karen Michele began their career in 2004 at St. Vincent's HealthCare, where they held various roles including Director of Pharmacy Services, Executive Director of Pharmacy & Lab Services, and Senior Director of Pharmacy, Lab, & Respiratory Services. During their time there, they implemented various initiatives to improve prescription access, patient and employee satisfaction, and medication safety. Karen Michele also played a key role in introducing High Reliability Organization (HRO) practices and training. In 2019, they joined St. Vincent's Health Services, Bridgeport CT as the Senior Director of Pharmacy, Laboratory, & Respiratory Services, where they successfully completed a transition for all three departments and supported the emergency management pandemic response. Currently, they serve as the Vice President of System Pharmacy Services at Nuvance Health, where they are leading the expansion of best practices across the system.
Karen Michele Steele, PharmD, DPLA completed their Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of the Pacific - Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy. Karen Michele also completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center. Additionally, they hold several certifications, including Change Acceleration Program (CAP) from GE Healthcare, Diplomat from the Pharmacy Leadership Academy, Fundamental Critical Care Support from the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and Management Formation from the Aquinas Institute of Theology. Karen Michele is also a licensed pharmacist in Connecticut and Texas and serves as a preceptor for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Inc. and the University of Connecticut.
