Nate Tranel has over seven years of professional experience in software engineering and development. Nate began their career in 2015 as a student and Undergraduate Course Assistant at Montana State University-Bozeman. In 2017, they took on an IT Intern role at Electrical Consultants, Inc., where they worked on a team of 5 other IT Help Desk and Network Admins. Their duties included imaging new employee workstations, troubleshooting PC issues, network maintenance, and printer and software maintenance. Nate also helped implement an asset tracking database and standardized security settings on 60+ company scanners, as well as upgraded 40+ employee workstations.
In 2018, Nate was an Undergraduate Student Researcher at Montana State University, where they received a grant from MSU's Undergraduate Scholar's Program to perform Software Security Testing research. Nate worked under Dr. Upulee Kanewala and applied mutation testing to TripleDES implementation. Nate presented their findings at NCUR 2019 conference in Kennesaw State University and published their findings in 2019 NCUR preceedings.
In 2019, Nate joined Oracle as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, where they worked on a team of 4 to implement a cloud observability solution for My Oracle Support products. Their tech stack included Grafana/Prometheus/Alertmanager and built-in OCI monitoring components. Nate also held roles as a Software Developer 2 and Software Developer 1.
Currently, Nate is a Software Engineer at Nuvalence.
Nate Tranel graduated from Skyview High School in 2015 with a High School Diploma. Nate then attended Montana State University-Bozeman, where they earned a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science in 2019.
