Gary Deverman, CFRE has over three decades of work experience in various leadership and executive roles in healthcare and nonprofit organizations. Gary'smost recent role was as the Vice President of NutriStyle since 2015. Prior to that, from 2009 to 2014, they co-founded and served as the CEO of Building Healthier America, a nonprofit organization focused on preventing obesity and chronic disease. During their time there, they secured major funding and launched an initiative called "High Five for Men's Health," reaching over 30 million people. From 2013 to 2013, they consulted as the Chief Development Officer for the American Board of Addiction Medicine Foundation, where they raised $2.5 million and launched a campaign to fund physician training centers. Before that, from 2006 to 2009, they were the CEO of Shaping America's Health, an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and treating obesity. Gary also has experience as the Vice President of Development and Marketing for the Points of Light Foundation and as the Vice President of Development for Arnold Palmer Hospital of Children & Women. Gary started their career at Children's National Medical Center, where they served as the COO of Children's Hospital Foundation from 1989 to 1996.
Gary Deverman, CFRE received their Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they studied from 1965 to 1969. Gary later attended Northwestern University from 1975 to 1977, focusing on Adult Education. In 1983, they obtained the CFRE certification from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
