Robert Rietmeijer

Senior Scientist at Nura Bio

Robert Rietmeijer has a diverse background in scientific research and teaching. Robert is currently working as a Scientist at Nura Bio since August 2021. Previously, they were a Graduate Student at the University of California, Berkeley - Biophysics Graduate Group from August 2015 to May 2021. During this time, their research focused on understanding the gating mechanism of K2P ion channels, providing important insights into their molecular motions and potential pharmacology for treating potassium ion channels.

Before their time at Berkeley, Robert worked as a Research Assistant in the Ermolenko Lab at the University of Rochester Biochemistry and Biophysics Department from November 2013 to May 2015. Robert'scontributions to the lab involved conducting RNA biochemistry, TIRF microscopy, and smFRET data analysis for a project on single molecule RNA biophysics.

Additionally, Robert served as a Honors Biochemistry Workshop Leader at the University of Rochester Biology Department in January 2014. In this role, they developed course content and facilitated interactive discussions, guiding a group of 15 students through computer modules using Mathematica and Pymol.

Overall, Robert Rietmeijer's work experience demonstrates their expertise in molecular neuroscience research, biophysics, and teaching.

Robert Rietmeijer pursued their education in the field of biophysics. Robert obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Rochester, where they studied from 2011 to 2015. Following their undergraduate studies, Robert attended the University of California, Berkeley, from 2015 to 2021. During this time, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biophysics. In May 2021, Robert successfully obtained their PhD in Biophysics from the University of California, Berkeley.
