James Cowan has been working in the field of research and development since 2018. James began their career at Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories as a Scientist I in 2018. In 2017, they worked as a Customer Service Cashier at Hannaford Supermarkets. In 2022, they joined Noveome Biotherapeutics, Inc. as a Research and Development Scientist II and also served as a Research and Development Intern.

James Cowan has a diverse educational background. James obtained an Associate of Science degree in Biotechnology from Hudson Valley Community College in 2014-2016. James then went on to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from SUNY New Paltz in 2016-2018. Currently, they are pursuing a Master's degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, which they are expected to complete in 2021-2022. James is also pursuing a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, which they are expected to complete in 2021-2022.
