Stephan Thalen has an extensive work experience with various companies and organizations. Stephan is currently the Associate Director of Global Corporate Affairs at Novavax since 2022. Before that, they worked at Eli Lilly and Company as an Associate Director of Global Business Communications from 2019 to 2022. At Eli Lilly, they focused on leading business and product communications, developing communication strategies, and supporting international affairs activities. Prior to that, they worked at FleishmanHillard as a Senior Manager from 2011 to 2018, advising clients on corporate communications and public affairs. Stephan also held positions at ISC - Intelligence in Science, AER - Association of European Radios, House of Commons, Unitas Communications, Florida International University, and U.S. House of Representatives, where they gained experience in EU communications, policy monitoring, event organization, political campaigning, stakeholder engagement, and legislative research.

Stephan Thalen completed their B.A. in International Relations from Florida International University, where they studied from 2004 to 2007. Stephan then pursued an M.Sc. in Politics and Government in the European Union from The London School of Economics and Political Science from 2008 to 2009. In 2010, Thalen obtained a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certification from TESOL International in New York City.
