Carl Jacobs has a strong background in firmware and software engineering, with over 30 years of experience in the industry. Carl started their career at Ferranti International Controls as a Senior Firmware Engineer, working on firmware development. Carl then joined Wayne Fueling Systems as a Principal Software Engineer, where they specialized in communications with "non-standard" devices and low-level programming. During their time at Wayne Fueling Systems, they also designed and developed the interface for several innovative systems. After that, they worked at ConnectTel, Inc. as a Senior Embedded Systems Consultant, coding in Campbell Scientific Basic and Python for solar power plants and solar panel string monitors. Later, they joined Draker as a Firmware Engineer, where they developed new features and maintained code for ARM-based solar panel monitors. Currently, Carl is working as a Principal Embedded Software Engineer at National Oilwell Varco, designing and implementing firmware for down hole tools.
Carl Jacobs attended The University of Texas at San Antonio from 1978 to 1983, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science. Carl also holds a certification as a Scrum Master from Rally Software, the month and year of which were not specified.
