In 2009, they worked as an Electronic Engineer at Afriticket Systems, where they designed and managed the production of on-board transport management systems.

From 2012 to 2013, Nkomo served as an Industrial IT Engineer at IDX (Industrial Data Xchange).

In 2013, they became an Electronic Engineer at Econet Wireless, where they focused on IoT evangelism.

Starting in 2014, Nkomo took on multiple roles simultaneously. Maduna worked as a Critical Reader at Unisa and also served as an Academic Tutor, teaching courses in Digital Electronics and Electrical Systems. Additionally, they became an External Marker for Masters in Business Administration (MBA) modules at Regenesys.
