Lope is a Serial Entrepreneur with 25+ years of experience in the telecommunications field. He has been a founder of several telecommunication companies in Colombia, the United States, and Canada.
Lope has also been known for leading the digital transformation processes in Colombia, South America. He has been a pioneer since the 1990s in breaching the digital divide by connecting the unconnected. Because of his work, Lope has had exposure and interactions with multiple organizations, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the MIT Media Lab, Tulane University, and the Internet Society, amongst many others. His work in this field is a world-class example in the topics of digital inclusion, Educational Informatics, and Technology in the Classroom.
He is also responsible for bringing the Canadian RRBS outside North America with a successful deployment in Buenaventura, Colombia, which now provides internet to 41k users.
Prior to funding Not Too Far Technologies Inc., Lope served as Vice President for Latam at La Loma Projects Canada Corp. He is also the founder and Managing Partner of Nodo Pacifico, a Not2Far subsidiary and joint initiative between the academia and the private sector that seeks to bring internet to people in the rural places of the Colombian Pacific rainforest.
