Roderick Besseling has over 10 years of work experience in various organizations. Roderick currently serves as the Head of Unit: Data and Analytics at the Norwegian Refugee Council, where they manage a team and shapes the organization's data and analytics strategy. Prior to this, they worked as a Product Lead: Data and Analytics, leading digital transformation projects and architecting data products.
Before joining the Norwegian Refugee Council, Roderick was a Senior Advisor - Open Data at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, where they assessed information needs and created digital information products. Roderick also worked as a Product Manager: Transparency and Open Data at the Department for International Development (DFID), leading a team and collaborating with stakeholders to promote transparency and data sharing.
Additionally, Roderick worked as a Digital Strategist at Cordaid, implementing data collection and management platforms and developing information management products. Roderick also served as the Lead Coordinator - Programs & Partnerships at the United Network of Young Peacebuilders, where they developed project proposals and managed multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Roderick's early career includes working as a Project Manager - ICT Products & Services at VSO, where they supported the implementation of digital solutions and developed an ICT strategy.
Through their diverse roles, Roderick has demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and expertise in data and analytics.
Roderick Besseling's education history includes obtaining a Professional Diploma in UX Design from the UX Design Institute in 2021. Prior to that, they had completed an MA in Post-War Recovery Studies from the University of York in 2009 and a BA in International Relations and European Studies from Nottingham Trent University in 2008. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including a Professional Certificate in Content Design from the UX Design Institute in 2023, an Enterprise Design Thinking Practitioner certification from IBM in 2022, and various other certifications related to technology, monitoring and evaluation, and conflict resolution.
