Douglas Johnston holds the position of Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Northwestern Medicine since October 2022. Previously, Douglas served as a Staff Cardiac Surgeon at Cleveland Clinic from July 2008 to October 2022, specializing in minimally invasive aortic and mitral valve surgery, aortic surgery, complex reoperations, endovascular interventions, and lung transplantation. Earlier in their career, Douglas worked in surgery at Massachusetts General from 1998 to 2005. Douglas earned an M.D. from Harvard Medical School from 1994 to 1998 and an A.B. in Anthropology from Dartmouth College from 1989 to 1993.
