Dr. Roosevelt Griffin III serves as the Director of Jazz Studies and Professor of Jazz Studies at Northern Illinois University, along with the role of CVPA Diversity Coordinator since July 2024. Additionally, Dr. Griffin holds the position of Education and Community Engagement Director at the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, and operates GI Music LLC as a business owner since October 2019. Dr. Griffin is also the Co-Artistic Director and Walter Dyett Chair of Jazz Studies, Diversity and Inclusion at VanderCook College of Music. As the Founder and CEO of the Griffin Institute of Performing Arts, Dr. Griffin emphasizes music, theater, and dance education for diverse learners aged 5-18. Other roles include Youth Ensemble Director for Orbert Davis' Chicago Jazz Philharmonic and previous work as District Band Director for Harvey School District 152. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Music from Northern Illinois University, a Master of Arts from Concordia University Chicago, and a Doctor of Education from Argosy University Chicago.
