Rachel McBroom, Ph.D., serves as the Chief Academic Officer and Chief Operations Officer at North Carolina Virtual Public School since November 2014, leading the operations team of the second largest state-run online school in the nation. Prior to this role, Rachel was the Director of Educator Preparation at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction from February 2011 to October 2014, providing support to 48 schools and guiding professional development initiatives. Rachel's experience also includes serving as Science Education Program Coordinator at UNC Pembroke from 2002 to 2011 and as a Teacher & Science Curriculum Specialist at Cumberland County Schools from 1997 to 2002. Rachel holds a Ph.D. in Science Education and has advanced degrees from North Carolina State University and UNC Pembroke, emphasizing expertise in science education and curriculum development.
