Michelle Hunter is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in crime reporting and legal coverage. Currently serving as the Jefferson Parish crime and courts reporter for NOLA.com since October 2012, Michelle has been responsible for producing in-depth reports, photographs, and videos on crime and breaking news in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Prior to this role, Michelle worked at The Times-Picayune from July 2002 to October 2012 as a crime reporter, focusing on the eastern section of Jefferson Parish and the operations of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Michelle began a career in journalism as an education reporter for the St. Bernard Bureau of The Times-Picayune from January 2001 to July 2002 and completed an internship as a staff writer at The Post Standard Newspaper in 2000. Michelle holds a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Jackson State University and a master's degree in Newspaper Journalism from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication.
