Joy Tupas has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Joy began their career in 2014 as a Research Assistant at UC Davis Department of Chemical Engineering and Material Science, where they contributed to research on the transmission of influenza through expiratory aerosols and developed MATLAB code for sound and video analysis. In 2016, they had a summer internship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where they continued working on influenza transmission research and developed MATLAB code for analyzing movement data.
From 2016 to 2017, Joy worked as a Manufacturing Associate I at Hitachi Chemical Advanced Therapeutics Solutions, LLC, where they manufactured GMP cell products and performed environmental monitoring activities. From 2017 to 2020, they served as an Associate Compliance Investigator at the same company, managing the deviations process and conducting investigations to determine root causes.
In 2020, Joy joined Nkarta, Inc. In their first role as a Cell Therapy Manufacturing Associate III, they executed GMP processes to manufacture cell therapy products, trained new operators, and purchased and tracked GMP materials. Later, they became a Sr. Communications Associate, supporting Nkarta's corporate communications and investor relations by editing and publishing press releases and coordinating All Hands Meetings.
Currently, Joy is working at Nkarta, Inc. as a Manager, Corporate Communications, but there is no specific end date available for this role.
Joy Tupas completed their Bachelor's Degree in Biochemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis, from 2012 to 2016. Afterward, they obtained the certification of "Engineer-In-Training" from the Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists in January 2017. Currently, Joy is enrolled in the University of California, Davis - Graduate School of Management, where they are pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from 2021 to 2024.
