Rachel Hale

Marine Ecologist at NIWA

Rachel Hale is an experienced marine ecologist currently working at NIWA since February 2019. Previously, Rachel served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Southampton from March 2014 to January 2019. Earlier experience includes a role as a benthic ecologist and environmental consultant at Ecospan Environmental Ltd, and as a scientific coordinator for Coral Cay Conservation, where significant contributions were made to marine habitat conservation projects in Tobago. Rachel's background also includes work at the Oxford University Natural History Museum as a museum technician, along with experience as a divemaster. Educational qualifications consist of a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of East Anglia, an MSc in Applied Marine Science from the University of Plymouth, and a BA in Biology from the University of Oxford.
