Benjamin Cretois is a researcher at NINA - Norsk institutt for naturforskning, specializing in the development of deep learning algorithms for species detection and identification using both images and acoustic data since April 2021. Prior to this role, Benjamin served as an assistant lecturer in quantitative methods at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), teaching R for data analysis to Master’s students, and developed an open-source website to facilitate learning during the pandemic. Previously, Benjamin worked as a data analyst at NINA, contributing to a report for the EU Parliament regarding the impact of predator revival on rural farmers. Benjamin's career began as a petty officer in the French Navy, leading a team to secure a military base. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Geographic Information Science and Cartography from NTNU, a Master's in Environment and Law, and a Bachelor's in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Université de Rennes I, along with foundational military education.
