Helmer Belbo has work experience as a Research Scientist at NIBIO Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research since July 2016. Prior to that, they worked as a Forsker / Researcher at Norsk Institutt for skog og landskap starting in November 2011.

Helmer Belbo attended Linnaeus University from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained a tekn. dr. / PhD degree in the field of Skogsindustriella produktionssystem / Forest Industry Production Systems. Prior to that, they studied at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) from 2001 to 2006, earning a Master of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, and Energy systems. Helmer's education history also includes attending Mære Landbruksskole from 1996 to 1999, where they completed their Artium degree in Agronomi, almenfag.
