Marlies Schijven is a distinguished Professor of Surgery at Amsterdam UMC since November 2009, with a focus on digital health innovation and applied healthcare technologies. Currently serving as a member of the Board at ZonMw and the Supervisory Board of Meander Medical Center, Schijven also holds significant editorial roles as Co Editor in Chief for SAGE Journals on Surgical Innovation and Simulation & Gaming. Schijven's academic leadership extends to the University of Amsterdam as a Full Professor of Surgery, and engagement in multiple initiatives aimed at addressing challenges in healthcare, including the co-founding of Prullenbakvaccin.nl to reduce Covid-19 vaccine waste.
