Steve Kaplan

Dr. Kaplan is the Neubauer Family Distinguished Service Professor of Entrepreneurship and Finance at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he has been a faculty member since 1988 and teaches advanced MBA courses and co-founded the entrepreneurship program. BusinessWeek named him one of the top 12 business school teachers in the country multiple times.

Dr. Kaplan conducts research on issues in private equity, venture capital, entrepreneurial finance, corporate governance and corporate finance. He has published papers in a number of academic and business journals, and has testified to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee and the U.S. House Financial Services Committee about his research. Steve is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and an associate editor of the Journal of Financial Economics. He also serves on the Board or Advisory Board of Columbia Acorn Funds, Morningstar and the Illinois Venture Capital Association.

Dr. Kaplan received an AB, Summa Cum Laude, in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College and earned a PhD in Business Economics from Harvard University.
