Shelly Yoder has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Shelly began their career as an Assistant Sales Manager at Lerner New York from 1995 to 1997. Shelly then worked at Alta Properties and Pinn Bros. Construction Inc as a Design and Artistic Services professional from 2003 to 2005. In 2006, Shelly became a Design Consultant, working as a self-employed designer until 2017. During this time, they also served as a Teaching Assistant at West Valley College from 2009 to 2011. In 2013, they joined Bedrosian's Tile and Stone as a Design Intern for a few months before moving on to become a Design Associate at Fireclay Tile from 2013 to 2016. Most recently, they have been working as a Project Designer at Next Stage Design + Build since 2017.

Shelly Yoder's education history includes attending three different institutions. From 1991 to 1992, they studied Voice at Henderson State University. Following this, from 1992 to 1994, they enrolled at Sam Houston State University, focusing on Interior Design. Finally, between 2007 and 2013, they pursued a degree in Interior Design and Art, completing their Associate of Arts (AA) at West Valley College. No specific degree was mentioned for their time at Sam Houston State University or Henderson State University.
