Junior Game Programmer at Next Games

Markus Hyvärinen's work experience begins in 2013 with an internship as a Web Developer at Process Genius Oy. In 2014, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at Riveria, where they supported students, substituted teachers, and taught programming. In 2017, Markus joined Biting Mascot, an indie video game start-up, as a Game Developer. In this role, they gained experience in leading the programming team, gameplay programming, rapid prototyping, UI/UX design, QA testing, and web development. Markus then joined Next Games, a Netflix Game Studio, in 2019 as a Junior UX Designer, where they worked on The Walking Dead: No Man's Land mobile game. Markus was responsible for wireframing and implementing UIs, light programming, handling communications with third parties, and occasionally creating icon art and particle effects. In 2021, Markus transitioned to the role of UX Designer and later became a Junior Game Programmer in June 2022.

Markus Hyvärinen has a Bachelor's degree in Business Information Technology with a specialization in Game Programming from Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK). Markus studied there from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed their Finnish Matriculation Examination at Joensuun Lyseon lukion aikuislinja from 2010 to 2013. Markus also obtained a Vocational Upper Secondary Qualification in Information and Communications Technology with a focus on Customer Service Support from Riveria during the same period. In addition to their formal education, Markus has pursued further certifications including "Visual Design: The Ultimate Guide", "Design Thinking: The Ultimate Guide", and "Become a UX Designer from Scratch" from The Interaction Design Foundation in 2021 and 2022.
