Andreae Downs is a dedicated public servant with extensive experience in local government and community advocacy. Since January 2018, Andreae has served as a City Council Member for the City of Newton, where responsibilities include chairing the Public Safety & Transportation committee. Additionally, Andreae has been the Executive Director of a wastewater advisory committee since 2011, facilitating stakeholder collaboration on clean water issues. Active involvement with the League of Women Voters includes participation in various committees addressing environmental and transportation concerns. Previous roles include Chair of the Transportation Advisory Group from 2012 to 2018, and over 18 years of experience as a freelance writer, with contributions to notable publications such as the Boston Globe. Andreae's early career includes editorial and reporting roles at the Brookline Citizen and experience in community relations and newsletter editing for Women's Action for Nuclear Disarmament. Andreae holds a B.A. in Communications from Mills College and studied at The University of Göttingen.
