James Frischling is a Senior Advisor and former President and Co-Founder of NewOak Capital. He was responsible for leading strategy, business development and marketing of the firm’s services. In this role, Mr. Frischling provided extensive subject matter expertise and strategy to global banks, insurance companies, law firms and other financial organizations based on 23 years of experience in capital markets and financial services.
He is an expert in complex financial instruments, including structured products such as CDOs, CLOs, RMBS, ABS and interest rate derivatives. Mr. Frischling has served as a consultant and expert witness in matters relating to market practices and participants, investment guidelines, suitability, portfolio and collateral construction, structural features, representations and best practices. He has also led teams on large investigatory assignments. In addition, Mr. Frischling appears regularly as a market commentator on the Fox Business Network and various other media outlets.
Prior to NewOak, Mr. Frischling was an executive at Fortis Securities and served as head of US Structured Credit where he oversaw more than $5 billion of structured assets. The group consisted of CDO origination, structuring, distribution and sales and trading, securitization, leverage loan sales and trading, RMBS sales and trading and loan syndication. At Societe Generale, Mr. Frischling was the head of CDOs, which included origination, structuring and distribution. He also managed the structured products sales effort after starting out in institutional fixed income sales of complex, illiquid instruments.
Mr. Frischling is registered with NewOak Capital Markets LLC and holds Series 79, 7, 24 and 63 licenses, a B.A. from Wesleyan University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
