Aram Balaian has extensive experience in the field of fermentation and biotechnology, currently serving as a Fermentation Research Associate II at Newlight Technologies, Inc. since October 2019. Aram has also been a tutor at YAIL Academy since January 2019, providing instruction in STEM subjects, particularly chemistry, advanced math, biology, and physics to students in grades 7-12. Previous experiences include an internship in the BioProcess Technologies Group at Marrone Bio Innovations, where Aram operated bioreactors for the production of bio-pesticides in a cGMP environment, and conducting undergraduate research at the Surface & Interfacial Science Laboratory at UC Davis, focused on the 2D crystallization of streptavidin. Aram holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis, earned in 2018.
