Kallie Friston is a postgraduate researcher at Newcastle University, focusing on the modulation of inflammatory processes in the brain for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, as part of the MoSMed CDT program. Previous experience includes an internship as a medicinal chemist at Roche, where Kallie worked on various chemical transformations, and an industrial placement at GSK, recognized for excellence in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry. Kallie also has experience as a lab technician at Stockton Sixth Form, enhancing skills in risk assessment and practical experimentation, as well as a sales assistant at Clarks, developing strong communication and teamwork abilities, and has held a waitressing position at The Dog and Gun, gaining experience in high-pressure service environments. Kallie holds an MChem in Medicinal Chemistry from Newcastle University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Chemistry at the same institution.
