Aaron Smith is an experienced investment leader and independent consultant with a diverse background in management and analysis. Currently serving as an investment leader for the New Zealand Defence Force since September 2023, Smith previously led investment initiatives at the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority, managing a $1 billion fund for decarbonizing industry. Additional roles include senior analyst at the Department of Corrections NZ and commercial director at ERSM Group. With a foundation in military service as an officer in the New Zealand Army, Smith holds a Master of Professional Economics from Victoria University of Wellington, alongside prominent training from Officer Cadet School of New Zealand.
