Tyrone Hendrix currently serves as the Executive Director at NYSUT since August 2023. Prior to this role, Tyrone held the position of General Manager at the California Faculty Association from October 2020 to July 2023, and Executive Director of the Mississippi Association of Educators from January 2017 to September 2020, where responsibilities included leading operations, serving as chief lobbyist, and championing public education. Tyrone has notable campaign experience, including roles such as Campaign Manager for the successful Vote Yes to JPS campaign in 2018, City Councilman for Ward 6 in Jackson from 2014 to 2017, and various positions in political campaigns including Mississippi State Director for Hillary for America. Academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Political Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Jackson State University.
