Harry W. Drucker

Director at New Venture Fund

Harry Drucker is the managing partner of North Shore Realty Partners, a diversified real estate investment platform for family offices.

A lifelong advocate for the preservation of land and sensible environmental policy, Harry has served as the founder and trustee of numerous environmental nonprofits. Since 1995, Harry has served as a trustee of the Nature Conservancy of Illinois (and as chair from 2013 to 2014), which works to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends.

In 1996, Harry founded the Friends of the Depot, dedicated to the economic redevelopment and environmental preservation of the former Savanna Army Depot in Illinois. As its leader, Harry successfully advocated for the addition of thousands of acres of land to the Upper Mississippi Fish and Wildlife Refuge and prevented the destruction of a pristine sand prairie by promoting an alternative, environmentally appropriate site for the construction of a prison.

In 2001, he was appointed by the governor of Illinois to the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission, which assists public and private landowners to protect high-quality natural areas in perpetuity by registration of such lands in the Illinois Nature Preserves System. He served as commissioner until 2010 (and as chair from 2004 to 2006).

Harry continues to serve as a director of the Environmental Law and Policy Center (he served as chair from 2008 to 2011), the board of which he joined in 2003. Following the philosophy that environmental progress and economic development can be achieved together, ELPC is the Midwest’s leading public interest environmental legal advocacy and eco-business innovation organization. It develops and leads successful strategic advocacy campaigns to improve environmental quality and protect natural resources.

Harry is also a founding board member of the Windward Fund, a public charity that incubates and hosts initiatives that pursue solutions to environmental challenges.

Harry graduated with a BA, summa cum laude, from Middlebury College in Vermont, and has an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
