Fernanda Balata is an experienced professional specializing in international development, coastal economies, and sustainable practices. Currently serving as Associate Fellow and Senior Programme Manager at the New Economics Foundation since January 2013, Balata leads initiatives connecting progressive think tanks across the Global South and Global North, with a focus on extreme wealth and environmental sustainability. Responsibilities have included establishing the Centre for Coastal Economies and managing the Blue New Deal project. Balata has also coordinated impactful global campaigns at Peace One Day and contributed to coastal economics research as an RSA Fellow. Balata holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from Estácio.
