Alex Tilson

Founder & CEO at Neptune Medical

Alex Tilson has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Alex started their career as a Mechanical Engineer at Edge Innovations, a leading robotic special effects company in the film industry. At Edge Innovations, they played a key role in the creation of complex machines for films like Free Willy II and III, Anaconda, White Squall, and Flipper.

Following that, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Intuitive Surgical and later joined ACT Medical as a Summer Intern. Alex then joined Guidant, where they worked in New Ventures.

In 2000, they started working at Converge Medical as the Director of Product Development, focusing on the coronary artery sutureless anastomosis system. Alex continued this role until 2004 before transitioning to InSound Medical as the Director of Product Development. Alex played a crucial role in developing the world's first and only extended wear hearing aid. The company was later purchased by Sonova in 2010.

In 2006, they founded Loma Vista Medical, a successful Silicon Valley-based medical device start-up. Alex served as the Founder and CEO of Loma Vista Medical, leading the design, production, and sale of the world's highest-performing medical balloons for TAVR procedures. The company gained significant recognition and was venture capital-funded.

In 2014, Alex Tilson founded Neptune Medical, where they currently serve as the Founder and CEO. Additionally, they co-founded the Silicon Valley Lean Medical Device Council (SVLMDC) in 2014 and served as the Chair until 2016.

Throughout their career, Alex Tilson has demonstrated a strong entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for innovation, and the ability to lead successful ventures in the medical device industry.

Alex Tilson completed their education from 1984 to 1988 at Lakeridge High School, where they obtained a high school diploma. Alex then attended Stanford University from 1988 to 1992, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Later, from 1997 to 1999, Alex pursued further studies at Harvard Business School and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
