Merle Becker is currently a Research Associate I at Neochromosome, Inc., since June 2021, following a role as an Organic Chemistry Teaching Assistant at the University of Rochester from August 2019 to June 2021. In the teaching position, responsibilities included instructing Organic Chemistry labs, grading lab reports, and preparing reagents. As an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Brisson Laboratory, Merle led experiments on aphid gene expression and conducted various molecular biology techniques, including RNAi and PCR. Prior research experience also includes work in the Maquat Laboratory focused on pre-mRNA splicing and an internship at Arnot Health, where projects included database development and sepsis research. Merle holds a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics with minors in Psychology and German from the University of Rochester.
