Lulu Cao has worked as a Mass Spectrometry Scientist II at Nektar Therapeutics since September 2020. Prior to that, they served as a Scientist at Verily Life Sciences from June 2016 to October 2021. Lulu was a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University from May 2014 to May 2016. From February 2010 to February 2014, they worked as a Research Associate at Rhode Island Hospital. Lulu Cao also has experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at Brown University, where they worked from 2004 to 2010.

Lulu Cao's education history begins in 2000 when they attended the University of Science and Technology of China and obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical Physics in 2004. Lulu then pursued further education and enrolled at Brown University, where they completed their Ph.D. in Chemistry from 2004 to 2009.
