Shak Sanders

Youth & Family Services Manager at Neighborhood House

Shak Sanders is currently the Youth & Family Services Manager at Neighborhood House. Previously, they were the Youth Tutoring and Resource Center Coordinator at Neighborhood House and the Tutoring Center Coordinator at Treehouse – Giving Foster Kids a Childhood and a Future.

Shak has extensive experience in developing and managing programs for youth living in poverty or in the foster care system. They are responsible for areas such as youth & parent education planning & management, supervision & administrative tasks, publicity & outreach, and community partnership management.

Through their work, Shak has built strong relationships with various community partners to ensure that youth and their families have access to quality services. They have also planned and conducted workshops and presentations on topics related to education and career exposure for school-aged youth in foster care.

Shak Sanders completed a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Post-Colonial English Literature from The University of Queensland. Shak was a Resident- Full-time International Student at International House Brisbane. Shak Sanders also completed General Cambridge Examinations 'A' Levels in Economics, English Literature, Geography, and General Cambridge Examinations 'O' Levels in Humanities from Nanyang Junior College, Singapore and Anderson Secondary School, Singapore respectively.

Shak Sanders reports to Janice Deguchi, Executive Director. They work with Melanie Roper - Associate Director, Child Development, Prenatal to 5, Julie Romero - Aging & Disability Services Program Director, and Brianna Kiarie - Associate Director, Education & Community Services, Program Quality & Compliance.
