Qian Wang

Model Risk Data Scientist at NatWest Group

Qian (Alexis) Wang is a Model Risk Data Scientist at NatWest Group since August 2020, focusing on evaluating the capabilities and risks of machine learning and AI models for various business applications, while also developing test suites and challenger models to enhance model quality. As a co-organiser for Women in Machine Learning & Data Science since January 2020, Qian actively promotes women's involvement in the field. Prior experience includes a research associate position at Imperial College London, where advanced data analytics and machine learning methods were applied to complex engineering problems, and a PhD where numerical models were developed to improve windscreen wiper performance. Qian also served as a Data Scientist for the London Fire Brigade, creating machine learning solutions to detect false alarms and as a Data Science Fellow, acquiring extensive knowledge in data science and machine learning techniques. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London and a Master's from Southwest Jiaotong University, along with a Bachelor's degree in the same field.
