Mende Thuji Yangden

Transportation Policy Analyst at Natural Resources Defense Council

Mende Thuji Yangden has a diverse range of work experience. Mende Thuji currently works as a Transportation Policy Analyst at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) since April 2023. Prior to that, they were a Global eMobility Researcher and Gender, Equity and Social Inclusion Coordinator at the World Resources Institute starting from February 2022.

From April 2021, they worked as a Cultural Preservation Research Analyst at Caring For Textiles, where they conducted research on community-engaged textile conservation and designed report templates for cataloguing historically significant textiles.

As a Junior Consultant at FUTOUR from July 2020 to March 2021, they analyzed data on diversity and inclusion in scientific research using Excel and STATA, organized webinars and workshops, and managed report writing for European Commission grants.

From July 2019 to July 2020, they worked as a Program Assistant at NCURA, managing grant deliverables for European researchers and entrepreneurs.

From December 2019 to March 2020, they were a Proposal and Budget Consultant at AcuTech Consulting Group, writing proposals and developing Excel budgets for projects related to risk management and weaponizable chemical materials.

In 2018, they worked as a Strategic Planning Research Consultant at Gyalyum Charitable Trust, gathering and analyzing data on domestic violence and developing educational materials for rural health workers.

Mende Thuji also worked as a Communications Officer at Rotary Club of Thimphu from September 2016 to February 2017.

Earlier in their career, they served as a Research Assistant and an International Peer Mentor at Skidmore College, and they worked as a Circulation Assistant at Lucy Scribner Library.

Mende Thuji Yangden completed their education as follows:

From 2017 to 2019, they attended Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where they earned a Master of Arts degree in International Economics and South Asia Studies.

Prior to that, they studied at Skidmore College from 2012 to 2016, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and International Affairs.

In 2014 and 2015, they also studied at Tufts-Skidmore Spain, working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and International Affairs and Spanish.

Before their undergraduate studies, they attended UWC Red Cross Nordic from 2010 to 2012, where they completed their High School education with a focus on the International Baccalaureate program.

In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications. In 2021, they received an edX Verified Certificate for Financial Programming and Policies, Part 1: Macroeconomic Accounts & Analysis from edX. Mende Thuji also obtained certifications in Budgeting and Forecasting, Business Valuation Modeling, Financial Analysis Fundamentals, Excel Crash Course, and Math for Corporate Finance from the Corporate Finance Institute® in 2020 and 2021.
