Lesley Rickards

Emeritus Fellow at National Oceanography Centre

Lesley Rickards is an experienced marine data management professional with over 30 years in the field. Currently serving as an Emeritus Fellow at the National Oceanography Centre since May 2018, Lesley previously held the position of Director at the Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level from April 2007 to January 2019, overseeing the international mean sea level data bank and contributing to the IOC/JCOMM Group of Experts on the Global Sea Level Observing System. Lesley also served as Deputy Director at the British Oceanographic Data Centre from November 1980 to April 2018 and was the UK National Coordinator for Marine Environmental Data from 1995 to 2007, playing a key role in establishing the UK Marine Environmental Data and Information Network. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics from Newcastle University and a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia.
