Leonardo M. Angelone is an experienced professional in the fields of biomedical engineering and regulatory science. Currently serving as Deputy Director at the Office of Translational Initiatives and Program Innovations at The National Institutes of Health since March 2019, Leonardo has previously held key positions including Program Officer and a decade-long tenure at the FDA as a Research Scientist and Regulatory Subject Matter Expert. Additional experience includes serving as Acting Division Deputy Director in the Office of Science and Engineering Labs and as an R&D Consultant at Hologic, as well as conducting research as a Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital. Leonardo holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Tufts University, a Professional Certificate in Drug and Medical Device Development from MIT xPRO, and has engaged in research fellowship programs at Harvard Medical School. Leonardo's educational background is further complemented by a degree in Electronic Engineering from Sapienza Università di Roma.
